9/11 Memorial Landscaping Project Fundraising Drive
Kalāheo High School Foundation (KHSF) is continuing to raise funds to landscape the area around the existing 9/11 memorial tree honoring Kalāheo alumna and 9/11 victim Christine Snyder (Class of 1987). The significance of the site has expanded to honor 9/11 victims, first responders, and survivors.
The project expansion will begin in front of A-Building in late-June, beginning with installation of an irrigation system and pouring a large area of concrete. A variety of new plants and stone benches will be added over the subsequent weeks. Landscape architect and Kalāheo alumna Stephen Mechler has designed the Hardscape & Planting plans pro bono.
The improvement project was initiated three years ago by KHSF board member James L. Schlosser, a former Kalāheo principal who served as interim principal during the pandemic.
